About 5 week wine kits

These kits are a great step up from a 4-week kitas they only add about 20 cents more to a glass of wine, but really improve the flavour.  The cost to make it in either of our two stores is less than a small to medium Tim Horton's coffee compared to a glass of wine.  The feed back we are getting from our customers is that the finished wine is as good, as a lot of so called premium kits on the market; especially ones in the same price range.

Even though the manufacturer calls it a 5-week kit, when it comes to the reds we recommend leaving it for 6 weeks before bottling.  The crushed grape packs in these kit give the wine a lot more flavour and aroma, but they need that extra week for the grape material to settle out before fitlering.  It is worth the wait

We carry both RJ Spagnol and Cellar Craft kits in this line.  The difference is the RJ Spagnol kits use dried grape skins, while the Cellar Craft ones are wet skins mixed in with sugar.  The RJS ones seem to have more skins and they give a more noticable flavour, while the sugar in the CC ones give more alcohol and a bigger mouth feel.

We feel that flavour is more important than mouth feel, and so you will find most of the kits we carry are RJ Spagnols.  That does not mean what we carry is what you like and we will bring in the other kits as needed.  CC behind the kit price will indicate it is a Cellar Craft wine, while RJS will indicate it comes from Spagnols.

5 week red wines

Minimize

Red wines

There is a $45.00 fee to make the wine in either of our two stores.

Global Cuvee Amarone

Cellar Craft - Think of Valpolicella on steroids.  It is the same blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, plus there is grape pack made with equal portions of California Cabernet and Barbera grapes and sun-dried red wine grapes.  The result is a robust wine with an earthy aroma backed by notes of spice and vanilla and an alcohol level above 14% which gives the wine a good mouth feel..  When young, concentrated flavours of black cherry and figs compete with un-mellowed oak and firm tannins.  6-months in the bottle will bring harmony to the flavours and softer tannins for a rich, well-rounded mouth feel and lingering finish.  Another year or two of aging will create a truly special wine which can be enjoyed like port or ready to take on your most robust foods like game, sticky ribs, rich pasta or blue cheese.  You will find it hard to find a kit this good for. $96.99

Italian Brunello

RJ Spagnol - This is fast becoming our biggest selling kit in this price and it is one of Italy's most popular exports.  This powerfull classic is full and expressive on the palate with lively cherry and a brisk acidity, supported by ample smooth tannins.  There is a deep and lingering finish to this garnet coloured wine.$89.99

Australian Cabernet Sauvingon

RJ Spagnol - The warm Southern sun produces a bold Cabernet with the varietal's signature nose: black currants, dark chocolate and subtle toasty notes.  This is a full-bodied wine with hints of coffee laced with vanilla notes. $89.99

Chilean Malbec

RJ Spagnol - This wine is the hidden treasure in our 5-week lineup.  This is wow wine.  It is hard to not open a second bottle, especially when your wife has a corkscrew in her hand and says, "Back off Varmit". With cool temperatures and plenty of sunshine, Chile has ideal growing conditions for this full-bodied wine.  Complimented by warm spicy notes, Malbec boasts aromas and flavours of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant.  The additon of Merlot grape skins creates a chewy, deep rustic red wine with intense cherry flavours and blended oak undertones. $89.99

Washington Merlot

RJ Spagnol - Our staff are blown away by this wine.  This deep intense wine exhibits the classic Washington flavours of cassis and chocolate.  Dark and rich with complex notes of blackberries, the velvety tannins enhance the mouthfeel and stature of this crimson wine.  Great for trunkk agers and those that can wait a couple of months to open their wine. $89.99

BC Pinot Noir

RJ Spagnol - Grown in the Okanagan Valley, this wine has fine aromas of black cherries and fresh strawberries.  The French oak produces silky tannins, while subtle notes of pepper and spice round out the experience.  This is the only red wine in this series that does not have grape skins added during fermentation, which means it produces a lighter wine, more accurate to a good commercial Pinot Noir. $87.99

South African Pinotage

RJ Spagnol - This grape is native to South Africa amd is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault.  This Pinotage has lots of dark fruit and serious tannins with subtle dark chocolate and spice undertones.  This is training wheels wine for those that are just starting to get into red wine, but can also be enjoyed by those that like a more full-bodied wine, but want something a little different. $89.99

Italian Primitivo

RJ Spagnol - Rich in nature, this rustic European wine opens up with a luscious bouquet of ripe black cheery and delicate spices underlain with a hint of toasted oak.  Italian Primitivo is called Zinfandel in California, and the additon of the Zinfandel skins blesses this wine with well rounded tannins, berry fruit and long, complex finish. $89.99

California Syrah

RJ Spagnol - California Syrah, also know as Shiraz, is a newcomer to the California vineyards.  This wine is remarkably smooth, with its raspberry and peppery spice blend in harmony to create and elegant flavour.  It is full-bodied in character, with soft, balanced tannins and a lingering smooth finish. $89.99

5 week white wines

White wines

There is a $45.00 equipment fee to make the wine at Divine Wines,  It includes the cost of the new synthetic corks, which will give you the best protection for your wine.

California Chardonnay

RJ Spagnol - Hailing from sunny California, captivating flavours of green apple and tropical fruit enhance an upfront floral bouquet in this full-bodied golden wine.   It will develop to reveal layers of ripe fruit and integrated oak, which unlike a lot of Chardonnays, does not over power. $85.99

South African Chenin Blanc

RJ Spagnol - This gracefull wine is known as Steen in South Africa.  It is light-bodied with a pale strraw colour.  The fruity scented nose has hints of green apple and lemon with a subtle floral bouquet rounding out the nose.  On the palate the wine is delightfully refreshing.  It is perfect for someone looking for a light wine for sipping alone or with really close friends. $79.99

Jo'Berg Riesling

Cellar Craft - This would be a great summer wine as California Jo'berg Riesling is lighter and less exuberant than cooler climate rieslings, but still reflects the bright citrus and ripe fruit character that makes Riesling one of the more versatile wines.  The flavour reserve balances the natural acidity and highlights the furity notes of the wine, giving it an off-dry sensory impression.  Serve as an apertif or as an aCellar Craftompaniment to most foods.  It works especially well with Asian dishes, fish, pork and chicken.  Let the wine rest at least 2 to 4 weeks after bottling, then serve lightly chilled.  It should be enjoyed within 12 months. $86.99

German Piesporter

RJ Spagnol - A traditional german wine, off-dry and extremely aromatic, this easy drinking classic is packed with a nose of honey and floral notes.  The palate is soft and fruity, offering medium acidic notes with traces of peaches and tropical fruit. $79.99

California Reserve Pinot Grigio

Cellar Craft - This kit is basically California Pinot Grigio with just enough Yakima Valley Pinot Gris to raise the finished wine above the norm.  The nose has a pronounced, refreshing citrus character, with a back note of juicy peach.  The mouth-feel is crisp with citrus qualities and the overall sensation delightfully lingers through a good finish.  The wine begins to show harmony and balance after a few months and is usually consumed within a year.  Serve lightly chilled as an apertif or with light chicken or pork dishes.  Works well with most Asian dishes. $81.99

Ontario Sauvignon Blanc

RJ Spagnol - A great wine from Canada, which you don't find a lot of in wine kits.  This medium-bodied and expresive wine presents bold herbal tones and fresh citrus flavours.  Straw in colour with a refreshing grassy nose, it delights with a long and fruity finish.  Sauvignon Blanc is the most food friendly wine, but it is also great for sipping. $79.99

5 week blush wine kits

Rose / Blush wines

Rose/Blush There is a $45.00 cost to make these blush wines at Divine Wines.  The price includes the new synthetic corks to give your wine that extra protection.

California Reserve White Shiraz

Cellar Craft - Yes you have read it right; there is a blush or white Shiraz.  Just like Zinfandel and Merlot, Shiraz is a red grape, but  eliminating skin contact  and crushing and pressing the grapes quickly, you create a blush or white wine.  The wine base is California Shiraz, but it has a flavour reserve of Viognier, which is added after fermentation, to add body, elevate the aromatics and create s just off-dry finish.  The light salmon colour of the wine comes from the brief skin contact.  The nose has compex layers of honeysuckle, strawberry, apricot and tropical fruit.  The wine is smooth and round on the palate with a notable strawberry flavour and a suggestion of tropical fruit.  You won't mistake this as another take on White Zinfandel.  The wine shows well after a couple of months of aging and is usually consumed within a year.  Serve slightly chilled as an apertif or with light foods.  Try it with chicken salads, deserts and Asian dishes. $81.99

California White Zinfandel

RJ Spagnol - This is that classic California treat for those that want to sip a nice light wine, either alone or with friends.  This easy drinking wine offers fresh floral notes on the nose and palate.  It is medium-bodied with pleasing berry flavours and a soft off-dry finish. $85.99
