Don't let the price of these wines fool you.  Even though they cost less than the Cellar Craft wines, they are really good value for the money.  And no, the Cellar craft ones are not over priced.  We have both types in our wine cellar and fully enjoy them.  These ones are just a little easier on the pocket book in these hard economic times.  There is a $45.00 equipment fee to make the wines in our store.

German Ehrensfelser

This is a great German white wine for those wanting one with lots of fruity flavour and an off-dry taste.  It is not a blend, but rather a cross between Riesling and Silvaner.  The wine is aromatic and the flavours of peach and tropical notes abound, but with just a hint of rose petal.  The flavour is fresh and inviting, with mineral notes, hints of orange rind and a lingering off-dry finish.

The wine will match well with spicy Indian, Thai or Chinese food, or just chilled on a sunny patio.

Release Date early December $119.99

Aregentina Malbec Syrah

This blend of these two classic Bordeaux varietals, is a New World spin on an Old World wine, creating a wine that is full-bodied with plenty of appeal.  The wine is very fruit forward and approachable, with balanced toasted vanilla flavours.  The taste hints of cherries and black currant up front, with darker, richer notes of coffee, tobacco and licorice behind.  Round and smooth with balanced tannins, making it a very easy drinking wine.

The wine is a solid match for grilled foods as well as heartier meat dishes like steak and kidney pie or Osso Bucco.

 Release Date early December $123.99

Argentina Torrontes

The signature white grape of Argentina, Torrontes is one of the "aromatic varietals" distinctive and exclusive to this South American region.  Torrontes is related to Muscat and produces a wine with a bouquet rich with tropical fruits, honey and sweet floral notes. The flavour is unexpected - crisp and refreshing with a vibrant acidity, citrus notes and a hint of spice, with an enduring finish.

This is a great wine for people that love Gewurztraminer, Muscat and other very aromatic wines.  It is great for sipping alone or with friends, but it also pairs well with seafood, spicy ethnic foods or the classic Argentinean hand held snack- Empanadas.

Release Date late Janauary $119.99

Portugal Tri Do Vinho Tinto

This dark red wine is an intensely flavourful blend of Aragones (Tempranillo). Cabernet Sauvignon, and Trincadeira.  The bouquet is rich with red berries, anise and black pepper.  The palate is well balanced with many layers of complexity.  InitIally there is fruitiness, followed by notes of mushroom and earth.  Rich tannins spiral to a long finish.

Pair this wine with red meats, Chorizo or other cured sausage, or a strong cheese.

Release Date near the end of February $141.99

South Africa Cabernet Franc/Merlot

This wine is rich in every way - deeply coloured, aromatic and very flavourful.  The nose has green and black pepper and a hint of spice.  It is full bodied with a fruit component - cassis, followed by a layer of darker flavours - like cigar box and leather.  The tannins are hearty and chewy.

This wine will pair beautifully with flavourful foods such as goat cheese, game birds, babaganoush or curries.

Release Date near the end of March $141.99

Australian Cabernet Shiraz

This is a blend of 64% Cabernet and 36% Shiraz from the Darlington Point Vineyard in New South Wales. Aromas of plum, spice, herbs and chocolate from the Cab dominate with berry and more spice coming from the Shiraz. The palate displays black currant and mint from the Cab with suggestions of cherry, blackberry and earthy overtones coming from the Shiraz

January Release Date $162.99

Uruguain Tannat

This is a 250 year old secret; Uruguay makes good wine called Tannat. As noted wine critic and authority Jancis Robinson, Tannat is to Uruguay what Malbec is to Argentina: a red grape traditionally associated with southwest France, that seems if anything almost to be more at home under the south American sun. The Tannins are much softer than the French version and you should be able to drink this wine after a year and it will keep up to 4. It will be dense, firm and confident on the nose and lovely full fruit impact on the front palate, with some tar and liquorice and firm fruit at first, and only then very slightly inky tannins

.February Release Date $162.99

Two Hemispheres Riesling

This wine is made from an equal blend of Rieslings from New South Wales in Australia and the Yakima Valley in Washington, and the result exceeds the qualities of either component. The Washington Riesling has notes of apple, pear, peach, melon, floral and mandarin which establishes a solid foundation. The Australian fruit brings out lime, grapefruit, tropical notes and additional spicy floral qualities. It has not been decided yet on the sweetness levels. This will be done during trials to reach that perfect blend of sweetness versus acidity.

March Release Date $162.99

Spanish Trio Tinto

This is an old but great wine from Cellar Craft, and I know lots of you have been waiting for it to come back. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Carinena create a fusion of classic Spanish grape varieties. This wine blend will truly reflect the advances that have been made in Spanish red wines in the past decade.
