Winery Series kits

Spagnols Winery Series kit wines are great for people that want a fabulous wine but don't have the time to wait for a Show Case or En Primeur wine to age to their full potential. Just the thing for people that have not built up their wine cellar and want a great wine now. But they are also wines that Nancy and I would make on a regular basis because they are very impresive wines.
These red wines are produced by fermenting grape juice on varietal specific crushed grape skins, seeds and stems. This allows for the extraction of deep colour, chewy tannins, tantalizing flavours and complex aromas, thus producing a richly structured wine.
There is a $45.00 fee for making these wines in our store.

Amarone Italy
This powerhouse wine is dark in colour and rich in flavours and aromas. The bouquet is spicy, with black cherry, tobacco leaf, licorice and coffee notes in the glass. Big, round and flavourful on the palate with delcious dark fruit, leather, cassis and pepper. The wine demands patience to reach it's full potential. $145.99
Cabernet Sauvingon California
This is a distinctive Cabernet in an appealing rich, complex style. It is full-bodied with a deep garnet colour, plus a fantastic aroma of plump blackberries, sweet vanilla and fresh violets. Notes of blackberries and cherries grace the pallet interwoven with rich tannins and pepper spice extracted from the Cabernet Sauvingon. This wine was picked as best in show in the 2009 Winemaker International Wine Competition. $136.99
Grenache Syrah France
Two of France's dominate grapes are gracefully blended together to create a wine that will soom become the pride of any wine cellar. The warm weather and terroir of this region lend to a bold wine with a nose brimming with spicy black pepper notes, dried dark fruit, earth and a hint of tobacco. This wine is sure to impress with its elegant finish. $141.99
Malpec Chile
Rich and luxurious, this garnet coloured wine has a brilliant bouquet of dark fruit with subtle hints of oak, vanilla and spice. The palate has strong plum and berry flavours balanced by moderate tannins. This wine is full-bodied and dry with mouth filling flavours and a lovely long finish. $136.99
Meritage Australia
Meritage is the name used for wine blends containing only classic Bordeaux grapes, but not made in that region. This one goes one better and is made in the New World style, resulting in a full-bodied, fruit forward flavourful blend that highlights all the characteristics of the three noble Bordeaux grapes it contains. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings dominate cassis flavours and firm tannins, while the Merlot softens the wine with hints of plum and violets. It is topped off with one of my favourite red gapes, Cabernet Franc, which adds dark cherry notes. Toast and vanilla flavours from the American oak create a balanced classic wine. Left to mature, the wine becomes lusciosly smooth and delicious. $139.99
Merlot Washington State
This elegant ruby-coloured Merlot features a rich aromatic bouquet of fresh red cherries, toasted oak and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it has expressive flavours of dark ripe plums, berries and silky tannins. Well structures and blanced, it culminates dramatically on the pallet. $136.99
Super Tuscan
Super Tuscan wines are not recognized as true Tuscan wines, which can only be made from traditonal grapes grown in Tuscany. And that is what, in my opinion, makes Super Tuscan wines better. They are blends of traditonal Tuscanny grapes and traditional French grapes, which are carefully blended together to make really fantastic wines. The result is a full-bodied, dry wine. This classic blend exudes aromatics of farm fresh raspberries supported by subtle hints of vanilla and earthy tones. Fermentation on untoasted American oak shavings and Merlot grape skins adds intense tannins to round out the concnetrated nose of blackberries and black pepper. $139.99
Syrah California
Think Shiraz here because Syrah is the grape of that famous Australian wine. Bold and assertive, the bouquet is opulent with fibrant notes of blackcurrants, rich leather, and pepper spice laced with strong toasted oak. Fermentation on Syrah wine skins reveals bold overtones of dark chocolate, spice and an abundance of bold, chewy tannins. The finish is seamless, adding depth and character to this masterpiece. $136.99
Rosso Grande Eccelente
This is the big brother to one of the most famous wine kits of all time, Rosso Grande, which 10 years ago, when it was first launched, became the most talked about and popular wine of it's time. Eccelente is the next evolution of this masterpiece. Deep, dark and rich, this assertive wine is bold in all aspects. A delectable bouquet of sweet ripe berries, spices and farm cherries opens up the palate, stacked with juicy fruit flavours and firmly structured tannins, Fermented on Merlot grape skins and un-toasted American oak, this wine is sure to create new waves of excitement. $143.99
Valpolicella Italy
Elegance and style come together to build this wine of true character. It boasts of a fruit forward nose distinguised by aromas of raisins, dark cherries and toasted oak. Drawing inspiration from the Primitivo grape skins (Zinfandel) it showcases firm tannins on the palate embraced by concentrated notes of sweet chocolate and prunes. The finish is dramatic, peppered with layers of dark fruit and aggresive oak. $136.99
Old Vine Zinfandel California
No, this is not a blush wine. Zinfandel is a fabulous true red wine that is always to be found in our wine cellar, or better yet, sitting in a glass aimed directly at my lips. Unlike that blush wine with the same name, true red Zinfandel comes from old vines that produce less berries and smaller grapes, that pack all the punch in smaller quanities of juice. This Zinfandel surrounds the palate with impressions of black cherries, and dark, plump fruit, framed with ample aromas of tobacco and dark coffee from the toasted French oak. Fermentation on Zinfandel wine skins results in a fruit-forward, full-bodied dry wine, yet displays an array of spicy flavours on the finish. $143.99
